Single Dads of Daughters
7/18/2008
Hey you single Dads! How does a single dad raise a daughter to become a woman? Well, my concern is that without the help of mature, caring women I'm not sure that it can be done - I mean done well. Although a dad can fix a ponytail, iron a ruffled blouse, and even help her put on lipstick, a girl needs a woman's influence to really connect with the world of adult women. A girl also needs to learn how a wife and a mommy behaves. Those are things a Dad can support, read about, teach in words, but he just can't ever show his daughter how it's done. There is a place where you can find that kind of help, Dad. It is in a church family. Find someone - maybe a mom with a daughter your child's age, who will take your daughter shopping or allow her to regularly spend time in her home with her family. Certainly there will be an older, godly woman who has the time, now that her children are grown, who can mentor your daughter. Dad, your daughter needs the influence of a mature woman in her life to help her grow up. If her own mom isn't in the picture, get busy and get involved in your church's children's program. You will then get to know the families there. Work hard at this, Dad. Your daughter needs a woman's touch.
