Showing your Mom (or your wife) that you love them doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. You know them best and know what little things make them happy. So take a couple minutes and do something to show your Mom that you really love her!

Have you ever watched a butterfly as it flutters over a bed of flowers? Sometimes a butterfly's wings are flapping wildly. It is expending a lot of energy. And then other times, it almost seems like it is suspended in air - Its wings just barely moving. It is during this moment that the butterfly is at its food source. It senses nutrients - and will stop to take in what it needs to replenish energy. Like a busy butterfly, a parent spends a lot of energy, working, raising kids, maintaining a marriage, doing errands, running a home.

A mature, married friend told me the other day the major influencing factor in her healthy and very happy relationship with her husband. She said if she were to share with a young couple the secret for a successful marriage, it would be to pray together

After church last Sunday, a big, tough-looking man approached me. I wasn't alarmed though, because he is one of the sweetest daddies that I know. He carried in his arms, his two- year- old and was eager to show me something. He said, "Watch this."

Q. My 18 month old has started climbing out of his crib and coming into our bedroom during the night. I know now that I made a mistake by letting him get into bed with us, although I would put him back into his bed after he fell asleep. Well he has started doing this sometimes as many as six times during the night and wouldn’t let me put him back in his bed without a real battle! Now, he refuses to go to sleep in his bed. When I leave him in his bed by himself he screams like he’s afraid. My husband and I don’t like to hear him cry like that. I’ve talked to some of my friends and understand this is pretty normal behavior for his age, but I really want him to go to sleep in his bed like he used to. How can I get him to do this and stay in his bed all night long?

Q. I heard about a research study that found that firstborn children are smarter than their siblings. My oldest child is very bright and has an amazing vocabulary, but I have three children and I want ALL of my kids to have equal opportunities to learn as they grow. What can I do so that my middle and youngest children will be just as smart as my oldest?

Someone in your family or someone who you know well may be a carpenter. Or perhaps they are just handy with tools. And they probably have their equipment stored in a toolbox with things like a hammer and nails, and maybe a saw.
My grandfather was a carpenter and one of my favorite childhood memories was being with him in his workshop as he allowed me to “fix” a board. Basically I would hammer nails into it. He was very patient as he instructed me how to do it right and safely. His workshop was full of tools -planes, chisels, saws and sharpeners. I loved the smell of the sawdust that his power saw released as it moved through a piece of wood. Most of grandpa’s tools were well-used but were well-cared for also.
I have a small hammer that he gave me once. It doesn’t get nearly the use that he gave it... in fact, I’m pretty sure I don’t use it in the way that Grandpa did.
