Getting Ready for School

I can't believe it's so late in the summer. In fact, It's almost over! School just seems to start sooner than ever. I know all you kids will "AMEN" that. Yep. It is almost time for a new school year to begin. It seems that getting ready for school is always an exciting time for families. There are backpacks to fill up, pencils to sharpen and a new crayola box to enjoy. And there is also the excitement and anticipation of a new teacher - somebody brand new for your child to impress! Well, we certainly hope it's a good impression, don't we? There are certain things that you can do, Mom and Dad, to help your child make a good impression in school this year. Although your child's teacher is the professional educator, you too parents are also educators. It is essential that your child be READY for school. One way to help them is by reading a lot in your home. Read aloud to your child and let them read to you. Just jumpstarting academics by doing this one simple thing can get your child better prepared for a successful school year. School can be fun - at the beginning -- in the middle -- and at the end -- if it's a place where your child can do well. So, help the little guy out - Read some, and then read some more.
