Kevin Leman's New Kid by Friday - Excellent!

Recently, I was in Dallas at a Christian conference and was privileged to get to hear Dr.Kevin Leman speak about his new book. You know he’s that funny, wise and well-known Christian psychologist and author. He has five children, of his own, ages from 15 to 35 and two grandchildren. A REAL child expert! In his book, he wrote a section on power struggles with teenagers. Here’s what he says “I was standing in a store, and a teenage girl was definitely calling the shots. In no uncertain terms, she was telling her frazzled-looking mother exactly what to buy and what they were going to do when they left the store. And you now what? The mother was falling for it!” He says, " In a power struggle with your child, you are destined to lose. A child can hold out much longer than you can. She’s focused on getting what she wants, while you have multiple things you must focus on. The other problem is - your child knows that you will give in just to have the power struggle over with."
