Dads Make A Difference

6/3/2008

Dad you DO make a difference! If no one has told you this lately --- let me say  with conviction - You Dads are so important to your children! Whether you look at family research or you simply see the joy on a little child's face when Dad is there for them, the fact is this: Fathers make a huge difference.

The presence of a male parent in a child's life is the subject of many research projects and what the research shows is that:  All children need a father who is actively participating in their lives. Those who work daily with children -- family counselors, teachers, coaches and caregivers -- all know and see the difference that having a dad makes in a child's life. We observe their better self-esteem. Boys with a close father relationship, are less likely to act up or misbehave in school. Research done by family experts have shown in dozens of studies that prisons are full of men who grew up with no relationship with their father. Of course, mothers are fundamental to every child's healthy growth - but Fathers are just as important. The Fact is: Dads are Essential to children. The difference between NOT having a Dad and having one is huge. Research have found many reasons why DAD's do make a difference.

Fathers are so essential to the healthy maturing of children, that millions of dollars have been spet on research studies to find out just WHY a Dad is important. Well, the SURVEY SAYS that Fathers matter! And here are a few of the top reasons why they do: Babies who spend time alone with their dad develop more curiosity and explore more than children who do not. Toddlers who have an involved Father, are more likely to develop a sense of security.School-aged children who have active dads develop more confidence and will separate more easily from mom. Teenagers who have fathers in their lives are less likely to commit crimes or abuse drugs and alcohol. And the research shows that even when fathers do not live at home with their children, if they are involved in their lives the kids will have few behavioral problems. Children Just DO BETTER when they have the involved, loving attention of a MOM and a DAD. And that's better for mom too. The studies tell us that an involved Dad helps to reduce the parenting burden - the physical, emotional and FINANCIAL care- that often falls on mothers. So Dads YOU are so important to your kids! Don't let a day go by that you don't count that as a blessing. You do matter and you do make a difference.
