Children Behave by Learning Behavior

7/7/2008

Children learn how to behave in many ways. And what we know about how kids learn is that it is in their own family that children really learn the basics of life. Kids learn those most important lessons about friendships, family and about marriage from their own parents. There are plenty of ways they do this too. By unspoken rules - those behaviors that parents may never really talk about, but they do model them. These unspoken rules are in all families and they have a lot of control over how a child behaves. God's plan for all of us is that parent’s teach and train their children to prepare them for life. That when we are children we are given valuable tools that we all will need to function one day as a healthy adult. An example: A young girl learns from her mother about marriage and being a wife, not just by what mom tells her through specific teachings, but most importantly by how her mom acts in her marriage. A son learns how a husband treats a wife by observing how his parents' marriage works. These behavioral rules that are modeled are more often - "caught than taught". They are behaviors that children are learning rapidly each day from you Mom and Dad. Parents you have enormous influence on how YOUR child will behave. Think how nice it is when someone says, "He acts just like his Dad!" and that's a really good thing.
